Design Exhibition “Design Manifestation. Situation”
From October 1st to October 31st the first floor lobby at the Embassy of Latgale GORS
The exhibition of Latvian contemporary design “SITUATION” will demonstrate the achievements of the international level in the industry of contemporary design, as well as inform about tendencies in the field of design. This will be the forth exposition in the cycle of Latvian contemporary design expositions and events – DESIGN MANIFESTATION.
 
Musical Performance “Juno and Avos” by Alexey Rybnikov
Friday, October 2nd 19.00, Great Hall 15,00–25,00 €
The classis of the rock opera genre, one of the most popular rock operas of the last 30 years – “Juno and Avos” – performed by Alexey Rybnikov Theatre (Moscow). The unique staging rights of the rock opera production belongs only to the theatre of Alexey Rybnikov. The main line of the well-known musically dramatic production is the story about destiny of the Russian count Nikolai Petrovich Rezanov

Musical by Kārlis Lācis, Jānis Elsbergs and Evita Mamaja produced after Rainis play and the motives of Latvian folk songs. Director Dž. Dž. Džilindžers. Daugavpilian Uldis arrives at the hostess’ home in order to ask for the permission to marry the daughter of the landlord. However, accidental meeting with the orphan Baiba is what changes his destiny…

Concert program offered by the trio of Eva Bindere, Kristīne Blaumane and Reinis Zariņš will provide an opportunity to enjoy a purposeful, stylistically wide spectrum chamber music in a performance of a high quality. Musical performance of three outstanding Latvian chamber musicians will be a professional demonstration, as well as the concert itself – a bright happening in the music life of this autumn season.

In their 20th anniversary concert "Atdot tautai tautasdziesmu" (Returning Folk Song Back to the Nation), popular Latgalian Ethno Rock music band "Laimas Muzykanti" will delight the audience with the most beautiful Latgalian and Latvian folk songs. In the concert together with the band will perform the personality of the Latvian Ethno music – Kristīne Kārkle. The audience will also have an opportunity to enjoy the guest performance of the legend of 80’s and 90’s music – band "Elpa".
 
Saturday, October 17th 19.00, Great Hall 7,00–25,00 €
Concert of the tour “Bach Goes to Iran” performed by the sensation of this year’s festivals – music group “Dagamba”. In their performance, “Dagamba” unites the musical traditions of the East and West in order to create a new, surprisingly captivating, and powerful sound. Musicians bravely approach new and unrevealed musical universes, adding to the performance an unforgettable dynamics and vitality.

Concert program will reveal the sparking music cocktail with captivating arias from operas by Gaetano Donizetti, Ruggero Leoncavallo, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Jacques Offenbach, Gioachino Rossini and Georg Frederick Handel, as well as the jovial music from operettas by Johann Strauss, and the most popular songs from musicals as “Les Misérables”, “West Side Story”, “Chess”, “Evita” and others.

Children will have an opportunity to see and even play with the characters from the beloved animation film “Fixes”. This is the performance that will let every child participate in the unusual adventures of the Fixes characters. All this will be supported by the captivating and fun songs performed by Fixes and singed all together with the audience. 
 
Saturday, October 24th 19.00, Great Hall 5,00–13,00 €
The first concert of the music festival will be opened with the performance of the organist Iveta Apkalna and chamber orchestra „Sinfonietta Rīga” under the lead of conductor Normunds Šnē. Beginning of the concert will reveal the solo play performed by I. Apkalna, however, the second part – the collaboration between concert organist and chamber orchestra. Concert program: J. S. Bach and P. Hindemith.
 
Tuesday, October 27th 19.00, Great Hall 5,00–10,00 €
At the second concert of the festival, organist Ansgar Wallenhorst (Germany) and the contemporary dance company of Lilija Lipora will reveal the world in seven separate episodes as described in the Old Testimony. Concert performance is generated by the choreographer Lilija Lipora, light designer Egils Kupčs, in the collaboration with the improvisations created during the event by Ansgar Wallenhorst.  
 
Saturday, October 31st 16.00, Small Hall 5,00–7,00 €
Musical readings of Rainis’ poetry from the collection of poems “Saules gadi” (Years of the Sun), performed and singed by the children choir of J. Ivanovs Rezekne Music Secondary School, students of the drums study course and organist Iveta Apkalna. Concert production team: Director – Māra Zaļaiskalns, set and costumes by Ināra Apele, Conductor – Anda Lipska.
