On June 5, at 19.00, on the stage of the Embassy of Latgale GORS, for the very first time their new concert program “Beyond the Boundaries” will present the vocal band "Latvian Voices". The program invites everyone to overcome the traditional perceptions, under the control of which we tend to create our understanding about ourselves as well as the world around us.
“Latvian Voices” members were noticed by many as the musical ambassadors of the European Capital of Culture “Riga 2014” and as the keepers of the Latvian folk song traditions. However, with the beginning of the spring, “Latvian Voices” are willing to reveal themselves to the world in a completely new and unusual light, emphasizing their versatility and overcoming the boundaries of nationality, euphony, femininity, and many others. Latvian folk song has always been the foundation of the concert programs created and performed by “Latvian Voices”. This time, it will be supplemented with an innovative original music by the band and the influence of the world music. Expectations of the audience about the a cappella music will be expanded in a collaboration with the composer and percussionist Rihards Zaļupe.
In February, “Latvian Voices” released a single “Honey Tree” which will be performed during the concert “Beyond the Boundaries”. The band has received the annual award of “Zelta mikrofons 2014” in a category “Best Vocal and the Choir Music Album”.
